Gadjo

DJ / Producer / Remixer

Gadjo has already produced and remixed some of the world's best-selling artists, from Basement Jaxx to David Morales. He is responsible for a worldwide chart-breaker and has now launched his own record label TornTape Records.

When Erick Morillo recognised his talent in signing him to his legendary Subliminal Records label in 2005, global recognition soon followed. His first major hit single "So Many Times" turned No 1 in over 14 countries' dance charts; it stayed No1 in the US for months on the Club Play Charts and became the most played dance track on British radio shows, even breaking the single Top 20 charts.  The icing on the cake was delivered in form of the "Best House Track Award 2006" at the Dance Music Awards in Miami.

As a producer, Gadjo has been responsible for a great array of tracks in a short period of time, proving that he was more than a one hit wonder. For Basement Jaxx, he remixed their hit "Do Your Thing" which entered the UK's Cool Cuts Charts straight at No 1. David Morales turned Gadjo's remix of his track "Better That You Leave" into the A-Side of the single release. With his remix of Big World's Me Gusta he achieved another hit which
gave him first popularity with his South American fans.

Gadjo actually had his first club hit with his own track "Besame Mucho" but it wasn't until David Guetta, Pete Tong, Seb Fontaine, Erick Morillo, Steve Angelo and Milk & Sugar all chose his music in their personal Top 10 DJ charts that his international career took off.

His career however began much earlier with his passion for music that first started in early childhood in the music store that his mother worked at. Here Gadjo, developed his passion and taste for music that remains with him to this day.

"As a child music was my creative playground and I developed my first compositions with classical instruments" Seeing his passion for music, the former owner of the store offered Gadjo private music lessons, an offer which he gladly accepted. He learned to play the piano and with 17 Gadjo started to DJ, playing Hip-Hop, Funk & Soul records.

At 26 his path as a DJ led him to the dance music scene, which he has become a integral part of and remains his biggest passion to this day. Little did he then know that only a few years later the likes of Erick Morillo, Sharam Jay, Bush II Bush and Steve Angelo would be remixing his tracks.

The international demand for Gadjo as a DJ surged, once he had played Pacha in Ibiza in the record breaking summer of 2004 when the Subliminal crew and him played legendary sets winning the Subliminal Sessions @ Pacha the MixMag's Annual Ibiza awards.

"The question I hear the most is where I enjoyed playing most. To be honest, I always enjoy playing my sets but the most important thing for me is how the crowd like it, I play for them."

From the Closing Party @ Space in Ibiza, the Subliminal Sessions at the Ministry of Sound in London, to the BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix Party Gadjo has been invited to play at some of the world' best clubs. His DJ circuit stretches from Ibiza to Dubai, Russia and even South Korea but his passion for delivering better sets to fans of his music each time continues to grow.

"I love music and I wanted to continue to make music with other artists without anything being in the way of the creative process. That is why I decided to set up my own label, TornTape Records. It is a record label by an artist for artists and I look forward to our
first releases this year. " His much anticipated new single will be released at the end of summer this year!
