Jonathan Ulysses

One DJ's name is synonymous with Ibiza and that is SPACE resident JONATHAN ULYSSES.  

Jonathan is, of course, recognised worldwide for being one of SPACE Ibiza's main residents, with eight seasons under his belt his up-tempo, driving, electronic, pumping house style sees him play some of the best set times the club has to offer to a 2,000 strong crowd every week.

However, his DJ career was no overnight sensation.  Over the past 12 years his passion for music and love of all things dance has helped him build a stellar reputation as a top house DJ, always staying true to his own style but never pigeon holing the music he plays, he keeps his CD case suitably eclectic.

Globally, Jonathan takes control of the decks at countless major clubs, playing in every continent in every country.  Pacha Munich and Morocco, Krystal Club Romania, Redlight Paris, Attica Singapore and Voltsgarten in Vienna to name a few.  Jonathan is, of course, no stranger to Ibiza's super clubs having played in Amnesia, Es Paradis, El Divino and Privilege.

Back on home turf, his bookings take him to London's Ministry of Sound, Pacha, the Egg and Turnmills, Garlands Liverpool, Sankey's Manchester, DeJaVu Hull, Miss Moneypennys Birmingham, Dusted Middlesborough and Kiss da Funk in Leeds.

Radio appearances take up a chunky slice of Jonathan's time and he has made numerous appearances on Radio 1, Pete Tong Essential Mix, Kiss 100, Ministry of Sound and Galaxy (Manchester and Bristol).

In recognition of his hard work and passion for music, 2003 saw Jonathan being nominated by DJ Magazine for Best Ibiza DJ.  2004 he took part in the live filming of the ‘Gate to Ibiza Tour' with MTV spanning Ibiza, Germany, Switzerland and Austria in conjunction with the mix CD ‘Gate to Ibiza', mixed with DJ Henry.

It is understandable that Jonathan describes his eight year residency @ SPACE as "living the dream". Playing alongside luminaries, including Erick Morillo, Sasha, David Guetta, Darren Emerson, Laurent Garnier, Tom Novy, Carl Cox and many more.  

SPACE not only won "Best Club in the World" Dancestar 2005 and We Love Sundays @ SPACE "Best Club Night", but it also, at the House Music Awards won "Best Club 2005" with Jonathan representing SPACE and collecting the prestigious award on the club's behalf in London.

He DJ's regularly for the infamous In Bed With Space World Tour parties, a part of the German maestro, Mind Productions and has mixed three terrace selection sides of the SPACE CD series and plays globally as main resident on the SPACE World Tour.

July 2005, Jonathan mixed the ‘World Tour Album' alongside David Morano.  Both Jonathan and David can be seen on the DVD accompanying the Space Album 2005 being interviewed alongside Carl Cox ..... Jon quotes "to play at SPACE is like playing to God!". Jonathan has also worked on a number of the highly successful and popular ‘In Bed with Space' compilations 2004, 2005 and 2006.

On returning from Ibiza this October 2006, Jonathan has left behind him a trail of highlights.  Etched into the minds of every seasoned clubber Space Opening Party is the official start to the summer.  Jonathan played the closing set on the new terrace which in his words was ‘awesome'.  Also, Love Parade, Berlin made a welcome return from obscurity, it was the biggest event ever with Jonathan DJ'ing on the SPACE float and later at 90 Degrees in Berlin.  The event attracted over one and a half million people and a 25,000 strong crowd watched him entertain at the Paradise Music Festival in Malaga.  

This winter will see Jonathan, as ever, spending a lot of time in the studio working on his production. He has an ever-growing production CV and we have seen him working with various producers, such as Tom Neville, Laurent C and Matt Schwartz.  His most recent projects for UMM have seen the release of ‘Thriller' and ‘What You Gonna Do' which charted No.4 in the Buzz Chart.

Finally, there is definitely no time for winter blues in the world of Jonathan Ulysses.  A hectic few months lay ahead ....... Having just finished mixing Side 1 of the ‘In With Space Bed Winter Sessions' compilation this will be released through ClubStar, Germany, side 2 mixed by DJ Sin Plomo.  Jonathan is also working with Damien J. Carter on their track ‘This Is How We Rock' and his latest venture with Richard Gray a track called ‘Sundays at Space' will be released soon on Breathe Recordings and is tipped to be huge.
